Memorial, Tribute & Remembrance Dance

This special dance is held annually to pay tribute and remember
dance icons John Duffy, Robert Kinkaid, Raul Ante, Frank Manion
and all who have passed that have contributed to West Coast Swing
dancing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Event begain in 1989 ... John Duffy Memorial
This event begain in 1989 with the passing of John Duffy, the co-founder
of our 2nd Sunday Swing Dance. John & Michelle began the 2nd Sunday Swing
Dance in February 1989 and unfortunately John passed away in April that year.
John Duffy was a wonderful West Coast Swing and Ballroom dancer with a passion
to spread his love of dancing to everyone.

Event Expanded in 2003 ... John Duffy Memorial & Remembrance Dance
In 2003, in it's 15th year, this memorial event was expanded to be not only a memorial
to John Duffy but to include Frank Manion, another WCS icon, and also remember other local
San Francisco Bay Area dancers who had passed that had made a significant contribution to
the dance. (see photo boards on display at this special dance)

Event Name Revised in 2011 ... John Duffy Memorial & Robert Kinkaid Tribute & Remembrance
In 2010, my wonderful husband and dance partner, Robert Kinkaid, passed away. The name of
the event was expanded in 2011 to the John Duffy Memorial & Robert Kinkaid Tribute & Remembrance
to also pay tribute to Robert, a wonderful man, co-founder of our Mountain Magic Dance Convention and
Sea Magic Dance Cruises as well as a great supporter of the swing dance community.
The event is now known as the Memorial, Tribute & Remembrance Dance to recognize
and pay tribute to all who have passed that have contributed to West Coast Swing dancing
in the San Francisco Bay Area.
